Stretch Your Imagination

On Thursday night, 100 CFW leaders gathered for our 1st Annual Strategic Forum to stretch our collective imagination and envision what a Re-imagined NYC might look like, and what role this community might play in God's work here in the city.

As part of a 6-month process to "Re-imagine CFW", we have held full-day planning & strategy meetings, gathered comprehensive feedback from CFW leaders, and sought discernment through a series of spiritual exercises. Now, at the end of this intentional process, we are excited to begin implementing some of the newly evolved vision.

The following provides a recap for you of what was shared last Thursday, where we stretched our imagination in the following areas:

  1. THE NATURE OF THE CHURCH - We typically understand "church" to mean the GATHERED CHURCH body meeting for worship on Sunday. But we don't cease to be the church after leaving the Sunday service! CFW focuses on equipping, connecting, and mobilizing the SCATTERED CHURCH to be the people of God every day of the week, reflecting the love of Christ throughout every sector of society!
  2. THE IMPORTANCE OF CONNECTING VOCATIONAL NETWORKS - The scattered church provides a unique CROSS-INDUSTRY COMMUNITY motivated and connected by a vision for the renewal of all things! CFW desires to better understand & highlight the interconnectedness and interdependence of the various industries in NYC, in order to more effectively participate in God's redemptive work in this city.
  3. MOBILIZING TOWARD CONCRETE CHANGE - Because we believe that the gospel transforms not only individuals, but also institutions, we want to begin moving towards more concrete applications of our theological foundations by partnering with key people, organizations, and companies working to RE-IMAGINE NYC.

While the above provides a mere overview of what is to come, you can expect a series of 3 emails from us over the summer months that will concretely lay out the ways we hope to implement the vision above and encourage your continued engagement with us!

May God continue to work out his purposes in and through your work,
David
