Melissa Waheibi
Deputy Director, New York Foreign Press Center

U.S. Department of State

Melissa is a recent graduate of the Gotham Fellowship class of 2013. She describes the program as "exceptional" but speaks of the final retreat as, "life changing."

"Throughout the year, David talks about the love of God and how crucial it is to view his work in the world through that lens of love. On the last day of the fellowship I felt God's love more powerfully than ever before - it flooded my soul and moved me to tears. In fact, it moved most of us to tears.

"The content of Gotham has also had a direct impact on my day-to-day operations at work. I still communicate with journalists to promote U.S. policy and initiatives, but now my motivations are driven by a shared success. I see press work as a collaborative effort, it's not simply using journalists to convey a message, it's partnering with them to get the best coverage they can get - because their work matters."

Dear {first},
The summer has begun and over the next few weeks hundreds of Redemeerites will be scattered throughout the City for NYC Re-Imagined! These events are not merely social opportunities, but a different way of experiencing the city in community through a gospel lens. It's easy to separate our faith from our engagement with the city, but the gospel reminds us that His grace is at work in every facet of our lives as well as our city. We hope to see you at one of the NYC-Re-Imagined events to experience how God is at work all around us in unexpected ways.

May God's will be done in & through your work,

David, Amilee, Kenyon, Calvin, Scott, & Chris
