DEC. 10, 2015

Dear {first},

As we come closer to the end of 2015, we want to highlight the events of the past few months. This year our programming focuses on various aspects of calling in our work as we explore the questions, "Who am I? What am I doing?" In September, we kicked off the ministry year with the event Calling: Context is Everything. At our recent November conference, Beyond Collaboration: Discovering the Communal Nature of Calling, over 400 attendees and presenters explored together the critical importance of community in shaping and discerning our sense of calling.

We continue working to deepen vocation-specific Faith & Work integration through our 6-week Vocational Courses in areas of finance, arts and entrepreneurship, and our 3-month Vocational Intensives. We also launched our 8th Gotham Fellowship class. We initiated a new Faith & Art Lecture Series exploring issues of calling in the arts. Our Artist-In-Residence program commissioned two new visual artists this fall, Alix Pentecost Farren and Caroline Washburn.

Work is the expression of who we are in Christ and this means we need to be growing in our ability to discern the Spirit’s lead in our lives. To that end, for the second consecutive year, we are continuing our Faith & Work Prayer Nights and our online Faith & Work Prayer Journey, emphasizing the necessity and integration of prayer in our work lives. We have already seen the power and privilege of prayer, and we hope that you will continue to join us as we learn how to love and serve this great city together.

Merry Christmas,

David H. Kim, Executive Director of The Center for Faith & Work

ONLINE COURSE-MAKING ALL THINGS NEW: IMAGINATION AND INNOVATION REQUIRED

The always-moving, never-ceasing nature of our city can make it difficult for us to see what is unseen and envision renewal for the very broken parts of our world. The imagination becomes critical in our ability to push against the brokenness we experience in our work, and there is no better anchor for our imagination than the gospel. This NEW course is based off the CFW 2014 conference by the same name and features speakers such as David Brooks, Christian Wiman, Margaret Newman, Richard Middleton, and Tim Keller. More>
