OCT. 10, 2017

Dear {first},

How does the Holy Spirit help us see the unseen ways God is moving in our workplaces? In the midst of our regular weekly work routines, it can be difficult to discern the ways God is using small moments for the renewal of our own hearts and our work in this city. Time to slow down and examine our work rhythms is required to appreciate the ways the Holy Spirit is using our work for God's glory.

I’m happy to announce, on October 26th, Lourine Clark and I will explore the topic of The Holy Spirit & Work. Who is the Holy Spirit and why is He critical in our ability to meaningfully integrate our faith into our work? The evening will include worship, conversation and prayer at WeWork Bryant Park. We will look at a Biblical theology of the Holy Spirit and consider the ways the Spirit is moving in our own vocational lives with practical tools that can help us locate and wisely assess our relationship with God. I hope you will join us for this special event. Space is limited so we encourage early registration.

Lastly, our heartfelt prayers continue to be with the community of Las Vegas as well as those whose lives are being impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria

Sincerely,
David H. Kim, Executive Director, Center for Faith & Work

REDEEMER'S GOSPEL IDENTITY CONFERENCE

Redeemer Presbyterian Church is hosting the Gospel Identity Conference on November 17-18. In a time where the question of identity is at the center of much national debate, pastor Tim Keller will teach how a Christian identity can be understood, embodied, and galvanized to serve those around us. We will also explore the alternative, often hidden identities that may be shaping our lives. We’ll learn how grace enables radical forgiveness and immense trust, and how Christ’s work is one that reorders what we love and deepens who we are. All Redeemer churches will join together to focus on spiritual formation, practices, and calling. In addition to extensive teaching and Q & A with Keller, the weekend will include worship, breakouts, and practical tools to help foster our growth as disciples of Christ. Register before October 17th to secure the lowest rate. More>

THE MISINFORMATION AGE: HOW DATA-DRIVEN STRATEGIES BREAK DOWN

In an effort to hire better and hire faster, increasingly many organizations are turning to data-driven recruiting and hiring strategies. These strategies usually involve gathering data on applicants and trying to tie those data points to successful hires. In this video resource from the 2016 Faith & Work Conference, data scientist Jane Adams examines the ways in which these strategies actually fail to achieve the intended result, and more importantly how they perpetuate discriminatory hiring practices. The severe limitations of these strategies are not unique to recruiting and hiring. Adams discusses how to think critically about data-driven strategies in a broader context, a crucial capability as these strategies are inserted into more and more aspects of our lives. More>
