Dear {first},
As Katherine Alsdorf wrote in the March Newsletter, I assumed the role of Program Director of Redeemer’s Center for Faith and Work in August of last year. It has been a privilege to guide the expansion of the CFW DNA into each Redeemer church and organize the centralized programs to serve the Redeemer family of churches' gospel movement efforts. I have been humbled and encouraged by Redeemer’s dauntless Faith and Work pastors Milla Nieminen, Mark Ro, David Plant, and Chuck Armstrong who have stepped into their roles with confidence and begun crafting the unique expressions of faith and work ministry in their congregations.
Over the fall and winter sections of the Gotham Fellowship, we explored Gospel renewal of the heart and Gospel renewal through community. This spring, the Gotham fellows dive deep into developing a theological understanding of Gospel renewal in the World. To do this, the fellows are exploring Abraham Kuyper’s "Stone Lectures" with special guest conversations, featuring both academics and practioners, about the implications of Kuyper’s Christian philosophy for faithfulness in the daily lives of professionals. We've learned from novelist Min Jin lee, musician Vito Auito, actor Elizabeth A. Davis, composer Kyler Werner, and film critic Alissa Wilkinson. This weekend, we welcome Dr. Vincent Bacote, Associate Professor of Theology & Director of Center for Applied Christian Ethics at Wheaton College.
In addition to his time with the Gotham cohorts, Dr. Bacote will join us this Monday evening, April 15 at 7 p.m., for a conversation about Political Discipleship. Click here to learn more and register.
Finally, Gotham applications for our 2020 class close on April 30, so we ask for you to prayerfully consider who you may know that may benefit from the program. Please pray also for our CFW staff and Faith & Work pastoral staff as we seek God’s wisdom in shaping the 2020 cohorts and as we ask for God's grace to be faithful stewards of this ministry.
Ps. We’re excited about the first solo album release by CFW staffer Jon Seale under his band moniker Son of Cloud, check it out here!

POLITICAL DISCIPLESHIP WITH VINCE BACOTE
MONDAY, APRIL 15
Politics and discipleship. The two words seem to have little to do with one another. In his book, The Political Disciple: A Theology of Public Life, theologian Vincent Bacote suggests that discipleship and politics are not as opposed as many people think. Join CFW and Dr. Bacote for a conversation on how we can follow Jesus into politics and develop a vision for political engagement that reflects our identity as image-bearers of a powerful, creative God.
