City Rhythms:
Art & Architecture

On October 17, 2013 CFW looked at the sectors of the Arts and Architecture, by featuring several key representatives doing exciting work in these arenas: Mason Jar Music and the 2nd Avenue Subway Project. Rebecca Locke was also announced as the inaugural Artist-In-Residence for the Center for Faith & Work.

Mason Jar Music
Mason Jar Music is an audio/visual production company and creative collective based in Brooklyn, NY. The collective, led by co-founders Dan Knobler and Jon Seale, includes a rotating cast of collaborative artists, many of whom live in a large converted house in Kensington, BK. Clients and collaborators include Feist, Andrew Bird, Bela Fleck and Alicia Keys. In 2012, Mason Jar Music was named the 6th Most Innovative Music Company worldwide by Fast Company. Their work has been featured on NPR, CNN, Paste, Billboard, TIME, CMT, Variety, NBC New York, The Village Voice, and The Huffington Post.

​Joe Solway
Associate, Acoustics Team, Arup
For the past fifteen years, Joe Solway has worked for Arup in their London, Hong Kong and New York offices. He is currently an Associate in the Acoustics team in the New York office. Joe has experience in a wide field of acoustics, from the design of the room acoustics and electro-acoustic systems for theatres, concert halls and studio spaces, to optimizing speech communication for courthouses, conference centers, and transit facilities, designing for acoustic privacy in offices, hotels and residences, and control of airborne and structure-borne noise and vibration from building systems, transit (road, rail and air) infrastructure and environmental sources. He is also a Lecturer for Acoustics class at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Design masters program.
